My Designs

The inspiration for this graphic came from Hope Church’s sermon series, “When God Speaks.” One of the things we learned during this series was that one of the ways we can recognize God’s voice is to spend time with Him in His word. When we get to know who God is through HIs word, we will also be able to recognize His voice. When we hear Him speak, we will follow.

In the graphic, I made the lamb, who represents God’s sheep, sit right on top of the Bible, which is God’s word. The sun in the back of the sheep represents God. To add contrast I placed some green leaves. The leaves represent a vine, who we know is Jesus (John 15:5).

Recognizing God’s Voice

This graphic came from when I read Matthew 14:22-33 during my God time. I could relate to the story because at that time, I was drowning; very slowly. I was placing my focus on my fears and doubts, and not on Jesus. But, what I learned was that sometimes Jesus lets us drown slowly to place our focus back on Him. It’s in the drowning where we cry out, “Lord, save me!” And I thank God that He reaches His hand out to rescue us.

The theme I wanted to go with was darkness. No matter what time of day it is, when a storm hits, it gets dark. To communicate that, I used dark colors and textures. For the words, I put “Lord, save me” to tug at the viewer’s heart who is crying the same cry to Jesus. On the top and bottom corners, I put Matthew 14:30 which is where we read Peter crying out to Jesus, “Lord, save me!”

I’m Drowning. Lord, save me!

This is another graphic that came from my God time. I was going through depression at this time and I was afraid that there would be no way to get through this. In the Bible plan I was reading, God spoke to me Psalm 139:10 and it brought comfort to my soul. I learned that even in the darkest season, God is there and He will lead, guide, and hold me through the storm.

The theme for this graphic was depression. The dark smoke in the background represents depression that surrounds us. I added the black and white filter to the lady because that’s what depression does.. it takes the color away. She is sitting on a rock, which represents God who is our rock. The hand who is carrying her is God’s hand. The sun behind her also represents God. We may be surrounded by depression, but we’re also surrounded by God.

Surrounded by Depression, But surrounded by God

“He has filled them with skill to do all kinds of work as engravers, designers, embroiderers in blue, purple and scarlet yarn and fine linen, and weavers—all of them skilled workers and designers.”
